All About Lambert Lake
Lambert Lake is a 40-acre private lake in Marion County located in the Chattahoochee Valley of west-central Georgia. Lake privileges are limited to homeowners on the lake and their guests. Just 15 miles northwest of Buena Vista and one hour east of Columbus (once you make your way around Fort Benning), this sparkling little jewel of a lake offers peace and tranquility to a lucky few.
Lambert Lake is owned and maintained by the Lambert Lake Estates Homeowners Association. Membership allows use of the lake plus a common sandy beach and pier. Homes in the association are mostly upscale and centered on large tree covered, lakefront lots. Because the general public is not allowed access to the lake, competition for fishing, swimming and boating is nonexistent. The only way to enjoy to the lake is to be invited or to purchase real estate.
Boating and fishing are the main recreational activities on Lambert Lake. Fish making their home in the crystal clear water include small mouth bass, large mouth bass, bluegill, perch and bream. The lake is stocked with bass and bream.
Although surrounded by wide-open space, Lambert Lake does have one neighbor. The U.S. Army post of Fort Benning is located just west of the lake. Fort Benning is home to more than 120,000 active-duty military, family members, reserve component soldiers, retirees, and civilian employees. Fort Benning is the primary training installation for all U.S. Army infantry enlistees.
Buena Vista is the county seat of Marion County and the closest city to Lambert Lake. The city offers a mix of small town charm and southern hospitality to residents and visitors alike. Buena Vista is home to such attractions as the Silver Moon Music Barn, the Elvis Collection Museum, the National Country Music Museum and the Front Porch Music Hall.
Visitors to Lambert Lake looking for an authentic river town will truly enjoy the sights and sounds of Columbus. Located on the waters of the gentle Chattahoochee River, the city is well known for its major attractions including nationally-renowned Callaway Gardens, Roosevelt’s Little White House, and Westville: the Village of 1850. A 15-mile trail known as the Chattahoochee RiverWalk provides an excellent path to bike, in-line skate, jog, or just take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery. Several sports complexes in the area also add to the city’s popularity. As Georgia’s third-largest city, Columbus has countless accommodations for lodging and vacation rentals. Shopping and fine dining also go hand in hand.
If you like wide-open spaces in a natural country setting, you’ll love Lambert Lake and Marion County. Located just a short drive from Fort Benning and Columbus, the gentle lay of the land offers quiet, spacious surroundings with easy access to everything.
