Found at the southern end of Florida’s West-Central Tourism Region, Miromar Lakes is located in Fort Myers, 40 miles north of Naples. With more than 2,000 housing units in over 20 neighborhoods, Miromar Lakes has the distinction of having its own postal address and zipcode.

Miromar Development, a U.S.-Canadian company, is the creator of breathtakingly beautiful Miromar Lakes. Within, or surrounding the gated community of Miromar Lakes, residents will find Blue Water Beach Grill, Marina on the Peninsula, a fitness center, wellness spa, racquet club, botanical park and the private Miromar Lakes Golf Club.

Central to Miromar Lakes are 700 acres of sparkling water. Divided by a peninsula of land, 450-acre Lake Maggiore and 250-acre Lake Como create a tropical oasis blending land and water with luxury estate homes and waterfront villas. Prior to becoming a sun-filled paradise, these freshwater lakes were pits left from aggregate mines.

Miromar Lakes is located in Lee County, home to some of the largest limerock, or aggregate, reserves in southwest Florida. Set as an example for repurposing worked mines, Miromar Lakes carefully monitors freshwater as it drains into Stewart Cypress Slough and the north headwaters of Estero River. Water quality is monitored by the Miromar Lakes Community Development District and reported to the South Florida Water Management District and Lee County on a regular basis.

Residents of Miromar Lake have full access to Lake Maggiore and Lake Como and all the recreation they offer. Published rules and regulations apply to the extensive list of activities open only to residents and guests.

Fishing is permitted from shore, docks or boats. Florida’s fishing laws and regulations apply to any anglers chasing Miromar Lakes’ freshwater bass. Whether you choose to fish or not, boating is among the more popular activities at Miromar Lakes.

Power boats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks or pontoons are permitted on Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. Boat size is generally limited to a 21-foot length while personal watercraft of any kind, are strictly prohibited. Motorboats are restricted to no wake zones within 100 feet of the shoreline. Maximum speed is 45 mph with counterclockwise routes enforced when more than one boat is present. Waterfront residents may only anchor at their home for 24 hours. With an annual membership, the Boat Club provides a marina, boat rentals, fishing gear and waterski school.

If you prefer a leisurely dip in a pool, the 10,000 square foot, zero-edge infinity pool is also available at the Beach Club. Scuba diving and snorkeling are permitted within swimming areas or in open water with a floating dive flag marking the dive site. If you are an advanced water skier, a slalom course is available.

The pride of Miromar Lakes is the only Arthur Hills Signature championship golf course in Southwest Florida. The 18-hole, par-72 course provides 7,400 yards of carefully tended greens with a selection of six sets of tees. A golf pro is on staff to help develop your swing. If you want to practice with a friend, you will find a driving range, practice fairway bunkers and 9,000 square foot practice green open every day. The professional service and outstanding amenities found in the Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club will exceed all expectations. The great room, card room, lounge, dining facilities and terrace overlooking the fairways provide a respite from the pace of busy lives.

For intimate meals or family dining, the Miromar Beach Club is known to deliver mouth-watering creations to their residents and guests. Located on the shore of Lake Como, the Beach Club is also the center of activity for Miromar Lakes residents. Spa facilities, a lounge, library, billiard room, card room and 50-seat theater are located here. With an amenities staff and concierge service ministering to the needs of guests, the Beach Club is a beehive of activity. Whether you need to sign up for tennis, volleyball, fitness classes or community events you will find staff ready and waiting to assist you.

If there is any reason to leave the surroundings of Miromar Lakes it may be a trip to Sanibel Island. A 45-minute drive west of Miromar Lakes will take you to this barrier island. Known for its beautiful beaches, Sanibel Island’s east-to-west orientation creates a “scoop” carries a delightful selection of seashells to its shore along with the Gulf’s waves.

While known for its beautiful beaches, over 60% of Sanibel Island is a protected wildlife preserve. For the enjoyment of bird and wildlife watchers, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Preserve boasts to over 238 bird species, 50 types of reptiles, and 32 different kinds of mammals. Then there is fishing. If you are interested in something larger than the bass found at Miromar Lakes, shark, tarpon, cobia, spanish mackerel, king mackerel, barracuda and snapper may be found in an off-shore excursion in the Gulf of Mexico.
